Tasting Notes
Bernoota' was the original name given to the homestead on the Lake Breeze property - it is an Aboriginal name for `camp among the gum trees'.

Bernoota is Lake Breeze's most highly awarded wine. They just keep coming. Most recent is the 2008 Sydney Royal Wine Show
GOLD MEDAL. This sensational Langhorne creek wine is slightly balanced towards Shiraz, selected from old vines around the Follett family vineyard, a breathtakingly refined and harmonious dry red blend which is now drinking beautifully. Bernoota amassing multi trophies, gold medals and numerous other awards in recent years

9 Trophys, 28 Gold and numerous other awards throughout it's 13 year history

Lake Breeze selects only the best fruit from the older vines on its estate, limiting to a crush of only two hundred tonne. The Bernoota was fermented on skins in open static fermenters for seven to ten days, followed by maturation of twenty months in American and French oak.

The Bernoota shows dark fruit characters of blackberry and plums, with a hint of spice and smoky oak aromas. It's lifted with a heady whiff of exotic spice, leading on to a juicy palate underpinned by smooth, smoky vanilla/ coconut oak and firm, pliant tannin. This is an impeccably balanced wine with tender flavours of berries and gentle woods emerging into a seamless velvety red of mature poise and structure. The palate encompasses all of the trademark Langhorne Creek fruit sweetness and comforting woody notes. Finely grained tannins and rosey fruit characters combine with broad layers of violets and earthy chocolate into a red wine which drinks elegantly, and lingers with a remarkably satisfying finish

"A mouth filling red, showing perfectly ripe aromas and flavours together with excellent vanillin oak, supple and polished. Amazing value for money. Highly Recommended!" -Winewise

The wine was fermented on skins in open static fermenters for 7-10 days, followed by maturation for 20 months in American and French oak barriques. The wine shows dark fruit characters of blackberry and plums, with a hint of spice and smoky oak aromas. The palate encompasses all of the trademark Langhorne Creek fruit sweetness and soft tannins.

Although extremely palatable now, it will mature gracefully with correct cellaring for the next 8-10 years.
