Tasting Notes

Now here's a BIG wine in every respect!! Big Alcohol (15% declared), BIG fruit and hey why not throw in a BIG heavy bottle!! Thankfully the price doesn't reflect how big the wine actually is!! Troy Kalleske (Wines Society Young Winemaker of the Year) made the wine with a very dark red colour reflecting how the ripe fruit was during extended maceration. It is gloriously perfumed, and can strut its characters like a proud peacock. Christmas cake, nutmeg, cinnamon, rosewater, chocolate, ground coffee and green peppercorns simply gush to the point of olafactory overload! And thats just the aroma side of things. Have I told you how big this wine is?? The palate reflects the aromas seamlessly yielding a mouthful of blackcurrants and berries, hints of star anise, brambles and touches of mid eastern spices. Very well balanced with judicious use of oak, the sensation of contentment is enhanced by the fine tannin structure and extraordinary length. One of the finest expressions of a Barossan shiraz!
