Tasting Notes

It was a pleasure to review this wine, not only because Pinot is my favoutite varietal but also because the words of Veronique Boss-Drouhin still ring in my ear. She once stated that the aim of the winery was to balance extract with finesse, and for my personal style preference, it seems that they have been very successful, yet again. The '06 is a medium cherry red colour. The nose has well developed aromas of crushed berries with floral and fruit de bois undertones. This wine was partially tank and barrell aged to retain freshness and there is good acidity coupled with medium tannins to give you something to think about while enjoying the medium intensity of the fruit. This is a soft and friendly wine that you can certainly enjoy today but will reward medium term cellaring. Perhaps this is why Drouhin's wines are sometimes referred to as 'restaurant wines'; they are approachable and indeed very enjoyable even at this stage. Serve with white meats or soft cheeses.
