Tasting Notes

A warm dry growing season and balanced crops from all fruit sources resulted in a finely textured, richly flavoured blend. Fruit is sourced from carefully selected parcels identified by the estate's winemakers and earmarked for inclusion. Harvesting takes place over the range of 12.5 - 14.0 Baume to achieve a balance of fruit freshness, fine structure with ripe juicy texture and generosity. Grapes are destemmed and crushed into static and rotary steel fermenters. The resultant must is then fermented for up to two weeks prior to pressing and racking to barrel. Matured for twelve months in a mixture of new and conditioned French and American oak barrels and hogsheads. Alcohol 14.0%
Bright crimson with purple hues. Fragrant lifted blueberry, plums, liquorice and dark chocolate aromas. Rich full fruit palate with fine integrated tannins and subtle oak interplay. The medium bodied palate offers similar flavours with perhaps the addition of blackcurrant and a bit of an olive savoury edge. It has firm tannins, a bit aggressive perhaps, but I'd rather have a bit of grip in an inexpensive wine than a lot of sugar. It's good and tasty and finishes dry.
