Tasting Notes

Desparate lots of parched fruit are high maintenance but Claymore have not looked back with regards to the quality of their award winning fruit. Unirrigated, the vineyard yields only small volumes of no more than two tonnes per acre, but this is more than compensated for by the quality of the wines produced. The underlying philosophy around the winemaking estate is to keep things fun, whilst practising an exemplary attention to quality, which has resulted in wide acclaim from industry peers, and around the wine show circuit. Claymore prefer to use French oak to mature their Cabernet Sauvignon, as the subtler oak characters which it imparts are more supportive of the Cabernet fruit. Alcohol 15% Winemaker Dave Mavor
Deep, dark burgundy colour. Regional varietal menthol lift, with a background of blackcurrants and gentle oak. The bouquets swoon out of this wine, there are minarets of currant and blueberry, entwined with the vanilla and apple spice of the oak. A soft, medium bodied Cabernet wine with a wonderfully rich primary fruit profile, subtly integrated oak characters and rounded, gentle tannins. Oak spice and berries linger in the mouth along with hints of licorice and leather. Let this wine breathe a little to allow all that primary characters to fill the glass and your mouth, it will please you with the comforting nature of it's Cabernet expressiveness, and leave you pleasantly satiated with it's lingering finish of stylish tannins and fine fruit
