Tasting Notes
Arakoon is a small family owned winery currently producing 2,000 + cases per year. They use traditional winemaking methods with open vat fermentation and a manual basket press. They have been producing premium wine since 1999 and have acheived a name as a producer of big, fruit driven wines.

Right from the beginning, setting up a father and son winery in a very small and basic shed off the Main Road in McLaren Vale, Ray and Patrik Jones worked in close quarters, squeezing out intense flavoured Shiraz from tiny parcels of local fruit. Using labour intensive, traditional methods. These small lots of super ripe grapes sourced from Sellicks Beach, Willunga, Blewitt Springs, Clarendon and other coveted corners of McLaren Vale were then laid to rest in a modest cache of French oak for around eighteen months designated mostly for unfiltered, single vineyard bottling.
